Reflections-Deliverables

Process Reflections:

My motivation for choosing this particular project was to make others aware of what having dyslexia was like, but initially to let others understand what it was like for me. I believe that people like to be understood, and this was a way for me to express that. Originally this EDGE project was designed to be something completely different. I was going to make a cookbook. But I had a little self-discovery that I needed to be more excepting of my dyslexia for myself, so others could understand as well. That’s when I decided to switch my project to this specific one. I had to really look inside myself and find the best way to express this. The steps I had to go through were small, but they were hard for my dyslexic mind. I have a hard time writing, so writing to express my thoughts was the biggest challenge. My goal eventually became to just finish this project. To just get through it and work out the bumps later. But I did it! I’ve achieved what I envisioned this project to be and I couldn’t be more proud. I believe that with my dyslexia I am limited to what I can do. But working on this project, I believe I have strengthened what reading and writing skills I do possess. I believe SUU decided to put this experiential learning requirement in place because of what it can do for their graduate in the future. SUU wanted to stand out from other universities in a way to better prepare their students for the real world. EDGE stands for Education and Development in a Global Environment. But to me EDGE is called EDGE because it gives you and “edge” on your competition of post grads. SUU students have something that other graduates don’t have.
